ALUMNUS OF THE MONTH June 2010Abdul Mutallib Iscandari INTRODUCTION- The Prince of Wales Global Alumni Association is proud to announce that Abdul Mutallib Iscandari has been Selected for the month of June 2010 PROFESSIONAL ACCOMPLISHMENT Mr. Abdul Iscandari is a senior construction engineer with the New York based international engineering consultants of Parsons Brinckerhoff Inc. He lives and works in the Chicago area, with participation in various projects ranging from highways, bridges, airports thru railroads.
EDUCATION Mr. Abdul Iscandari graduated from Fourah Bay College (University of Sierra Leone) in civil engineering and has a post graduate degree in computer science and a masters in project management. Mr Abdul Iscandari attended the Prince of Wales School during the year of the Jubilee celebrations (974 – 1975) and completed his sixth form education as the senior prefect. He participated in various activities while attending the school, which included drama clubs in French and English, played on the school band at its inception, a member of the 6th Freetown Boys Scout Troop. He was an avid debater in the literary and debating society of the senior school, and the United Nations Students’ Association. FAMILY - Born in Freetown, Sierra Leone, and hails from Foulah Town on the eastend of Freetown. Father: Abdul Iscandari, retired chief civil engineer at the ministry of works, represented Freetown East 2 as a parliamentarian, and served as a cabinet minister for tourism; Mother: Ruth Ebun Iscandari, retired senior midwifery sister, also maternal & child nutritionist. Abdul has 3 brothers and 2 sisters. He is married to Anita (former Miss Halloway) and has 3 children – Asim (aged 15), Alimatu-Sadia (aged 11) and Abdul Mutallib (aged 7). HOBBIES Abdul is a civil society activist, socialite, and an avid traveler. At the Prince of Wales School, he actively participated in sporting activities including lawn tennis, table tennis, track and field and cricket as a member of the great Macauley House. Even though he lives in Chicago, he is a member of the Washington DC Chapter of OPWA, and takes an active interest in the projects to improve on the quality of education of his alma mater. |
